Parasite Prevention
Common parasites that afflict cats include fleas, ticks, roundworms, tapeworms, ear mites, and heartworms. Cats should routinely receive medications to prevent and treat these parasites, which can have negative affects on a cat’s health and lead to transmission of diseases. Some disease transmitted by parasites can also affect humans, including roundworms and tapeworm, and cat scratch fever (yes, it is a real condition!)
Recommendations for these medications will be determined by multiple factors including your cat’s adoption history, health status, and access to the outdoors.
