Diagnostic Testing
Testing allows us to determine the overall health of a patient, identify if disease is present, and helps us diagnose and treat disease early. We can also determine if your cat is at risk of developing a condition that may be prevented.
A tailored routine diagnostic schedule, including wellness and monitoring labs, will be developed for your kitty based on their age and health status. These labs help us screen for and monitor conditions including chronic kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, and urinary tract infections.
It is also important to know your cat’s current status for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), as a positive result has implications on patient health and disease transmission. If you have a new kitten, or the FIV/FeLV status of your cat is unknown, this test will be recommended.
Testing for internal parasites should also be performed routinely, and when present, prompt treatment is important.
