Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a mobile cat vet?

Tranquil Tabby is an in-home practice, which means we provide all services within the patient’s home. Our exams, vaccinations, sample collections, and treatments take place in the home instead of a veterinary clinic or an unfamiliar van setting as with some mobile practices. We carry common feline medications to prescribe to our patients, and our online pharmacy is utilized for special medications and refills. Full lab panels are sent out to our reference laboratory and results are available to discuss within a few days. And yes, we only see cats!

2. Will my cat benefit from Tranquil Tabby’s mobile services?

Our in-home veterinary visits are aimed at reducing our patients’ fear, anxiety, and stress while providing quality feline-specific veterinary medicine in the comfort of the home. Cats who are consistently fearful and anxious during car rides and in-clinic veterinary visits will benefit greatly from our in-home services. Cats who appear relatively calm during in-clinic visits will also benefit from feeling safer receiving care in their familiar environment. Tranquil Tabby aims to redefine feline veterinary care by eliminating barriers that prevent anxious kitties from seeing a vet and by empowering families to feel comfortable seeking care for their cats.

3. Are your services by appointment only?

Yes, our services are by appointment only. Our hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM. To request an appointment, please contact us by email or phone.

4. My cat’s appointment includes a window of 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the scheduled time. Why?

While we make every attempt to arrive at the scheduled appointment time, we will may occasionally run a bit early or late due to external factors including traffic. If we are running early or late, a member of our team call to let you know.

5. How far do you travel?

Our mobile clinic services Vancouver WA, Camas, Washougal, and surrounding areas. At this time, we do not cross the river into Portland.

6. What do I need to do before an appointment?

We count on our clients to be partners in helping us provide a safe, calm, and comforting environment for our veterinary visits. Please refer to our Prepare for a Visit page for more information.

7. What are your fees?

Our fees are very comparable to standard to veterinary fees in our region. The main difference in fees is the inclusion of a travel fee that covers our travel and time to your home. Our exam fees vary depending on presenting concern, and include a built-in consultation fee that covers the doctor’s time reviewing and updating your cat’s medical history and charts, evaluating lab work, researching and consulting with specialists, and directing your cat’s veterinary care. For a full list of services, contact us by email or phone.

8. What happens if my cat needs additional services not provided by Tranquil Tabby?

There will be times when in-home care will not be possible. If your cat requires care not listed on our services page, including x-rays, dentistry and surgery, our team will refer you to where these services can be provided. When appropriate, we will refer your cat to a full-service general practice, and in the case of needing urgent care, we will refer you to a local emergency clinic.

In the effort of providing the highest quality care to our patients, we will refer your kitty to local veterinary specialists as necessary. This may include ophthalmologists, dermatologists, or internal medicine specialists.

9. What if my cat has an emergency?
